What To Expect
TRANSPORTAION
Cadets are responsible for providing their own transportation to Lock Haven University. Parents must pick up thier children at Lock Haven University after graduation.
MILITARY DICIPLINE
This program requires those attending to accept military-style discipline and to participate in events that include: close order drill, marching, personal and barracks inspection. Camp Cadet provides a five night experience for boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 15. They are exposed to law enforcement activities, and provided with an opportunity to get to know police officers on a personal basis.
GRADUATION
Graduation is the highlight of the Cadets six day experience, it Involves a full military inspection followed by the presentation of awards, trophies, and the issuance of plaques to all cadets and concludes with the traditional “hat toss.” Graduation starts at 11:00 a.m. and then the cadets depart for home.
LOCATION
Camp Cadet is at Lock Haven University which is located at 401 N Fairview St, Lock Haven, PA 17745 in Clinton County.
CADET QUALIFICATIONS
Camp Cadet is established for boys and girls, ages 11 through 15, who reside in Clinton County, or who attend any Clinton County School. To keep up with the strenuous daily schedule of events the applicants should be in good physical condition. These are the only requirements. The Camp Cadet staff encourages all interested young people to apply for this program.
DATES
The Camp Cadet program is being held on July 18 thru July 23, 2022. This is an overnight camp.
APPOINTMENT OF CADETS
Generally, there are not enough spaces available for all Applicants. As a result, a Board of Selection must make tough decisions regarding the acceptance of Cadets, Qualified Cadets are generally selected upon the following basis: * Age - those 15 years old are chosen, as they cannot apply the following year. * Previous applicants - those who have applied the previous year and who even though qualified, were not selected due to the large number of applicants.
FEE
Those Cadets receiving an appointment to attend are required to pay a registration fee of $20.00. Those demonstrating a need for financial assistance can apply for and request a waiver of the $20.00 registration fee.
MEDICAL EXAMINATION
Cadets are required to have a physical examination by their own physician. The medical form must be completed by the physician and returned before MAY 7. Those needing financial assistance for obtaining a medical examination may also apply for this assistance. If granted, an exam will be provided by a physician selected by the Camp Cadet staff. DO NOT SCHEDULE A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT UNTIL YOU RECEIVE YOUR ACCEPTANCE LETTER IN THE MAIL.
HOW TO APPLY
Applications are available on or after January 1. They can be obtained at any school, law enforcement agency in Clinton County, or downloaded from this site. You may submit applications via email to calivlife@yahoo.com. Please complete the application and return it before May 7.
